My professional career has been shaped by my strong commitment to bettering the lives of children and families who are struggling. While pursuing doctoral training for clinical psychology, I focused on child and family development, with an emphasis on the treatment of mental health disorders. While I had an excellent education overall, there was no acknowledgement of traumatic stress in my graduate training.

Since obtaining my doctoral degree, I have sought out training on trauma and focused on providing assessment, treatment, and support to children and families who are impacted by traumatic events. I co-developed a model for treating child traumatic stress, Trauma Systems Therapy (TST). In my role as lead trainer for the NYU TST Training Center, I am responsible for implementing TST in multiple programs for which I provide training, ongoing consultation, and technical assistance to programs implementing TST in multiple regions of the U.S. and beyond.

I have gained a national reputation as an expert in the field of child traumatic stress as the result of my publications and presentations at multiple professional conferences. I have also served on several committees of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), which is the major professional organization focused on research and treatment of traumatic stress.

Throughout my 14 years in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Langone, I have published multiple articles and book chapters, and co-authored the second edition of the TST Manual, which was published in 2015.

In addition, I am dedicated to providing assessment and treatment to children, families, and adults with a variety of mental health concerns. I am also passionate about training and teaching developing mental health professionals.
