About Me
As clinical professor and clinical director for the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, I oversee and specialize in treating a wide range of mental health conditions in children and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. With more than 15 years of experience, I have developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of young patients. It’s immensely satisfying to help children and adolescents navigate their mental health challenges.
As vice chair of clinical affairs in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, I oversee the clinical services of our multi-specialty outpatient Child Study Center, children's services in our integrated behavioral health and consultation liaison services, and child psychiatry services at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, and the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone in Brooklyn. My focus is on ensuring the highest quality of care and support for our patients and their families.
Throughout my career, I have held various leadership roles that have allowed me to enhance the quality of mental health services for underrepresented youth. In Brooklyn, I have supervised the child psychiatry team at the Sunset Terrace Family Health Center at NYU Langone, managed school-based behavioral health clinics, and expanded telepsychiatry services. My efforts have been instrumental in maintaining high standards of care during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring continuous support for our patients.
My dedication to education and mentorship is reflected in my former role as training director of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, where I focused on overseeing the teaching, training, accreditation, and wellbeing of our doctors specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry.
My journey into medicine began with a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Chicago, followed by my medical education at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where I pursued a career in child and adolescent psychiatry inspired by a desire to address health disparities and improve access to mental healthcare.
My credentials include a medical degree from NYU Grossman School of Medicine, residency in psychiatry at the New York State Psychiatric Institute of Columbia, and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. These qualifications, combined with my extensive experience, enable me to offer expert care tailored to each patient's needs.
I am currently board certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. My teaching, academic, and research interests have included telemedicine and telepsychiatry, the benefit of telepsychiatry in improving access to mental healthcare and reducing mental health disparities, child psychiatry training and supervision, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), identity development in minority youth, mental health in minority youth, and acculturation.
