I became interested in microbiology after taking courses during college. I pursued a master’s degree in microbiology, but found I was more interested in the patient population than studying in a laboratory. This, combined with my love of working with children, led me to pursue a career as a pediatric infectious disease specialist. I enjoy treating children—they bring great joy to my day-to-day life.

Communication is the backbone of our pediatric infectious disease team at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. In our specialty, a patient’s history and physical exam are often our only tools, so we strive to be extremely thorough and complete in our assessment and communication of our management plans.

It is my personal promise to my patients to never leave them “high and dry,” so to speak. If I truly feel something is wrong and I can’t personally figure out the answer, I will always do my best to find someone who can.

During my fellowship training, I developed particular interest in Neisseria meningitidis, serogroup B meningococcal disease and vaccines, Borrelia miyamotoi, and other tick-borne diseases. Since joining NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, my research has focused primarily on improving human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates. I am also focused on building up our Family Travel Medicine Center, where we see adults and children before international travel.

I am a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, Society for Pediatric Research, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the International Society of Travel Medicine with a Certificate in Travel Health®.
